Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a multiethnic background. Jacqueline Fernandez's mother Kim and her father Elroy are both Malaysians. She is the younger of two brothers and one older brother. The family moved to Bahrain during the 1980s because of the Lankan civil unrest and hence she was raised in Bahrain. When she finished her studies in Bahrain, she was awarded a Scholarship to attend Sydney's University of Sydney, where she earned a master's degree of Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. As a lover of culture and languages, she enrolled in Berlitz Language School in which she studied Spanish and honed her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006 and she was also crowned Miss Universe 2006 also. In 2006, she was awarded she won the Miss Sri Lanka title. Then, she stepped into the world of television, hosting the show about Sri Lankan businesses named Lanka Business Report. Padukone was the daughter of badminton star Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and was raised in Bangalore. As a teenager she was a badminton player in the national championships, but she ended her profession in sports to become a fashion model. Padukone is of Mangalorean origin Her mother language is Konkani. Padukone Village is located in Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi District of Karnataka located in India. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is an international champion in badminton who is retiring. Her mother is a traveling agent.
